The Estonia Fund was established in 1995 following the loss of the ship Estonia in the Baltic Sea and is solely intended for the dependant survivors of the crew and the passengers. The fund is closed for further investments and it has never been open to the public.

The Estonia Fund was drawn up by Danica Life and Pension S.A. and today it is managed by the Luxembourg based life-assurance company Private Estate Life.
